Reflections on the job I held in Memphis at Sam’s Club

Vicki works in customer service.   I am constantly amazed by her patience.  People do not come to her when things are going well; instead, Vicki deals with complaints.  It is not until they have a problem with their experience at Sam’s Club that customers go to Vicki.  They blame Vicki for things for which she deserves no blame.  In fact, all too often, a customer will blame Vicki for something that is the customer’s own fault (“Please do not yell at me, but I cannot give you cash if you did not bring your receipt.)  Few people thank Vicki.  Nevertheless, Sam’s is a store and they are customers and “the customer is always right.”  Thus, Vicki does her best to please the customer.

God is God.  I am constantly amazed by His patience.  People often do not come to Him when things are going well; instead God deals with complaints.  It is not until people have a problem with their experience in His Universe that people go to God.  They blame God for things for which He deserves no blame.  In fact, all too often, someone will blame God for something that is the person’s own fault (“Please do not yell at me.  I did all I could to warn you that your actions would bring consequences.)  Few people thank God.  Contrary to what people might think, the world is not a store and we are not customers and it is God who is always right.  Amazingly, God gave absolutely everything to save a world of people who thought they were at customer service.
